The good people at Pitchfork have been all abuzz today announcing the addition of Oklahoma freakout rockers Flaming Lips to their music festival happening at Chicago’s Union Square July 17th through the 19th.
Between the return of The Jesus Lizard and alt-music heroes Flaming Lips, we’d call it the new Lollapalooza except that it’s almost twenty years later, they aren’t going on tour and you likely won’t find huge tents of neo-hippies peddling hemp products while breathing fire as they get a new tattoo.
The expanding lineup currently looks like this:
Friday, July 17
“Write the Night: Set Lists by Request”:
Built to Spill
The Jesus Lizard
Yo La Tengo
Tortoise
Saturday, July 18
The National
Pharoahe Monch
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
+ many more!
Sunday, July 19
The Flaming Lips
Grizzly Bear
The Walkmen
Vivian Girls
in addition to many others…
