Villagers, whom our very own Truffle Jones reviewed when they played the Glee Club in Birmingham, UK back in June of 2010, have a brand new video directed by Myles O’Reilly of Arbutus Yams for the song “The Pact (I’ll Be Your Fever)” from their much beloved 2009 full length Becoming A Jackal on the Domino imprint.
Check it out:
Conor O’Brien, the composer / singer behind Villagers has also recently been nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello award in the category “Best Song Musically and Lyrically” for the single “Becoming a Jackal.” The Ivor Novello Award has recognized Britain’s songwriting and composing talent since 1955 and remains the only musical award ceremony that is not influenced by publishers and record companies, but is judged by the writing community.
Villagers also recently released a split 7″ with French siren Charlotte Gainsbourg entitled “Set The Tigers Free / Memoir.” Conor composed both the songs performed by Villagers and Charlotte Gainsbourg (as well as the artwork) for an exclusive Record Store Day release.
